Meet the team at BLC! 07/06/2016

June 7th 2016

Here is a little information about the teachers at Bristol Language College. They are a friendly bunch, so why don’t you come by one day and say ‘hi’?

Chris, Director of Studies.

I’m from Surrey in the South of England. I’ve visited 53 countries in total and have lived in Australia, South Korea and Kuwait. I’ve been teaching for 12 years and working for TEG for six years.
I have three young nieces that I regularly buy presents for. I passed my driving test when I was 17 and my first car was a red Mini.
My hobbies are watching football, running, reading books and writing stories. I like rock n’ roll music and my favourite bands include ‘The Rolling Stones’ and ‘The Who’. I like cats, but not dogs and I prefer tea to coffee. I support Gillingham football club because that’s where my dad comes from.
Newquay is my favourite place in the UK because it has the best weather and beautiful beaches that are perfect for surfing.
My favourite thing about teaching is seeing the students use new vocaubulary and teaching language that is really useful in everyday life. I also like jumping around in class.

Elle, Assistant Director of Studies.

elle 2

Hi, my name’s Elle and I’m originally from London. My parents are English, but my grandparents are Norwegian and Irish.
I love travelling so when I was 22 I moved to Barcelona to study the CELTA. I have been teaching for seven years now and think it’s such a rewarding job! I love seeing the students speak with confidence and it’s a great feeling when they move up to a higher level at the end of the term. It’s also really exciting and interesting to learn about different cultures, counties and food from around the world. Learning English has become one of the best ways for the world to exchange information and it’s great to be part of that.

In total I have lived in three different continents. I have never been to Japan, but would really like to visit as my favourite food is sushi.
In my spare time I love to visit different places around the UK. Last weekend I went to Manchester for the first time. It is a really lively city with lots to do! I like nature and love being outside. Summer is my favourite season because I can visit the beach and spend lots of time in the park with friends.
