When you think of Southampton Language College you may only think of adults wanting to improve their English but this is not true. Every summer TEG welcomes around 30 juniors, from countries all around the world, through its doors. They come for a fantastic summer of fun and activities as well as a chance to improve their English and the opportunity to gain new lifelong friends.
Last summer was no exception to this. Starting at the beginning of July, the next 2 months were full of noise, excitement and tears at the end when they said goodbye. During this time, we were able to create everlasting memories between the teachers and the juniors. Just a few of the stories that I can remember from last year include a set of my juniors stealing a geocache and bringing it back to school. Another great story was creating a ‘rubbish fashion show.’ A show created from items such as black bags, paper plates and straws. The imagination was amazing.
As well as the wonderful social programme, we also have informative and enjoyable English classes with enthusiastic and friendly teachers.
With a range of topics from the city to health and the body there is something for all students to enjoy.
Although we aim to teach the juniors with our knowledge, it is often the juniors who end up teaching us and one example of this is a game called ‘concentration.’ If you would like me to show you this game, please just ask.
Every year we look forward to our juniors coming to inject a new burst of energy within the college and this year is no different. As you can see from the programme above, this year is expected to be full of laughter and new experiences (all in English of course!)
