Student Weekend Trips

February 24th 2016

Looking For Something To Do For The Weekend?

A Traditional Sunday: Why not make the most of Sundays and get out in the fresh air? It’s only a 15-minute train ride from Southampton to Brockenhurst, the heart of the New Forest. From here there are many signposted walks or, for the more adventurous, try hiring a mountain bike (£17 a day) (book online at www.newforestcyclehire.co.uk). You are sure to see the New Forest horses and enjoy beautiful scenery. Brockenhurst also has several traditional pubs and cafes for you to experience the best of English food! You could try the famous “English roast”, a cream tea or just relax with a pint. Enjoy a traditional Sunday day out!

A Cheap Day Out In London: For those of you who haven’t seen our capital city yet, or want to go back for more, there is a FANTASTIC offer on at the moment with South West Trains. In February and March, you can buy a return ticket to London for just £15 (usually more than £30!). You must book online by midnight the day before you want to travel, although we recommend booking as soon as possible, as this offer is very popular. (www.southwesttrains.com)

London has something for everyone! If you like shopping, there is everything from world famous department stores (such as Harrods and Selfridges) to markets (check out Camden Lock – also a great place for street food). If you are looking for culture, many of the museums and galleries are FREE (including the Natural History Museum, National Gallery and the British museum). If you want to see the sights, take a walk! Start at Buckingham Palace, move on to Trafalgar Square and then walk down to the river to see the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and some of the modern architecture too!
