The City of Portsmouth

The HMS Warrior in the city of Portsmouth

TEG Portsmouth is in the centre of the city in the main shopping district. Our language school is close to all the best attractions and entertainment the city has to offer. Portsmouth is also world-famous as a commercial port and the historic home of the Royal Navy.

10 minutes’ walk from the college is the shopping and leisure complex, Gunwharf Quays, with the Spinnaker Tower at its heart, is close to the historic naval dockyards. These dockyards are home to the 200 year old HMS Victory and the 500 year old Mary Rose ships. Well worth a visit!

The seaside resort town of Southsea is on the southern point of the city. It also has a long, unspoilt coastline to the east. The south of England is a great place to study a language and Portsmouth is in the best possible position.

Portsmouth has a very 'English' feel despite being a student-friendly city with lots of students from all over the world.

The College is only a minute's walk from Portsmouth & Southsea train station. We are less than an hour from the historic towns of Southampton, Winchester and Chichester. The world-famous Isle of Wight is only 15 minutes by boat from Portsmouth harbour and is even quicker with the Southsea Hovercraft crossing.

Other places of interest, such as London, Brighton, Salisbury (for Stonehenge), Bournemouth, Oxford and Bath can be reached directly by train from Portsmouth. Our social programme frequently organises trips to all of these places.

We are sure you will love our waterfront city in any season you choose to stay here.
