This month we are sadly losing our longest full-time student and school mascot! Omar, from Jordan, has been studying very hard with us since 11th May 2015, but this week he will take the IELTS and shorty after leave Bristol. Omar has been fully involved in daily life here at Bristol Language College and we have really loved seeing his growth and progression over the past year. He arrived to study General English every morning and with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work he has moved quickly from Pre-Intermediate to Advanced!

Office manager, Lisbeth, recalls that for the first few weeks he would come to reception and ask for the best ways and ideas on how to improve and learn English quickly. One of her suggestions was to put down the books every now and again and socialise…Since then he hasn’t missed a Friday social event and she fondly remembers her first dance with him to Reggaeton! As well as studying and dancing, Omar has been busy helping the other students connect, he started the BLC ‘Whatsapp’ group that now has 60 members! The teachers and staff all use the app to share news about the school, social programme and photos of recent days out. The group is a great support for new students who want to go out and explore Bristol together outside class hours. Everyone has enjoyed being part of the Whatsapp BLC community, so much so that past students still remain in the group to stay connected and informed about the exciting school events and news.

We are really proud of what Omar has achieved here at the school, not only a student he has become our friend. We wish him the best of luck for the future and hope to see him back in Bristol one day soon!

Love and best wishes Omar!
